Metropolitan Museum of Art or The Met , located in New York City, is the largest art museum in the United States, and one of the ten largest in the world, with the most significant art collections.

Its permanent collection contains more than two million works, divided among seventeen curatorial departments. The main building, located on the eastern edge of Central Park along Manhattan’s Museum Mile, is by area one of the world’s largest art galleries. There is also a much smaller second location at “The Cloisters” in Upper Manhattan that features medieval art.

Number 4 The National Gallery

The National Gallery is an art museum in Trafalgar Square in London. Founded in 1824, it houses a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900.

The Gallery is an exempt charity, and a non-departmental public body of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Its collection belongs to the public of the United Kingdom and entry to the main collection is free of charge. It is the fourth most visited art museum in the world.

Number 5 The Vatican Museums

The Vatican Museums or Musei Vaticani are the museums of the Vatican City and are located within the city’s boundaries.
