Touch the Art

Local Museum or Gallery or Library Program

Touch the Art

We have all heard it before
Why can’t we touch the art?
Because even clean hands leave fingerprints that degrade materials over time.

But what if we could? What if we tried something different and radicle? What if we broke away from the traditional? What would our Local Museum or Gallery or Library be like?

What if Museums, Archives, Libraries and Galleries started a program where people are allowed and even encouraged to touch the artifacts?

What if Museums, Archives, Libraries and Galleries allowed, perhaps for a limited time and heavily supervised a chance for your patrons to touch the Art and Artifacts? How special would that make them feel?

Allow Visitors To:

  • Turn the Page on a 100 year old book
  • Hold that 200 year old musket
  • Feel that water color
  • Carress that Statue

I understand this is a radicle idea. But, this is a time for Museums, Archives, Libraries and Galleries to try radicle ideas.

Perhaps start out small with a “Touch Tour” for the visually impaired like Penn Museum .
It is up to you.
